Albariño Vineyard

Vinifera grapes like Petit Verdot, Merlot and Albariño have really thrived here at Wessex Hundred along with some newcomers like Tannat and Muscat.

1619 Wine Pavilion

The two-level outdoor pavilion (not pictured here) that overlooks a pair of vineyards is perfect to enjoy a flight or glass of wine while sinking into one of the comfy cushioned chairs or inviting rockers. Upper deck reserved for guests 21 and older. Live music on seasonal nights. Named for The Acte of 1619 when the House of Burgesses required colonists to grow grapes and make wine (a concept we embrace!).

Gabriel Archer Tavern

You won’t be in a rush to leave our Gabriel Archer Tavern because it’s so pleasant to stay, whether you join us indoors or sit on the brick patio underneath a splendid wisteria canopy. Almost all of the greens come from our own garden or were grown by local farmers. We choose only the freshest seafood from the Chesapeake Bay. Lunch and dinner served daily along with brunch on Sundays.

Wessex Hall

Serves as an ideal location for your special event with nearly 4,800 square feet that can accommodate more than 300 guests for a standing reception or 180 seated guests. Located over a large cellar that contains over 600 wine barrels and the upper floor is the general office of the operation.

Westbury Hall

At 9,216 sq. ft., Westbury Hall overall is the largest and most recent addition to these hospitality facilities with a barrel cellar tasting room and dining room (30 seated), a large main floor special events room (60 seated, or 100 standing) with a sweeping staircase leading to an upstairs lounge.

Raised Lawn

Also known as “Wessex Lawn,” this gorgeous area of the farm overlooks the newly planted vineyards and the picturesque duck pond. The perfect venue for your special event or wedding.

Main Entrance Road

Feel the stresses of the everyday fade away as you enter the Wessex Hundred farm and journey down the scenic entrance road lined by beautiful Crepe Myrtles overlooking vineyards and stunning pastoral views.

Petit Verdot Vineyard

The largest vineyard planting at Wessex Hundred is of Petit Verdot. We have 11.6 acres of this standout varietal planted in our historic soils. Petit Verdot is the cornerstone of many of our most acclaimed wines such as Adagio, Gabriel Archer Reserve, Petit Verdot Reserve and the Wessex Hundred Petit Verdot.

Woods Around Duck Pond and Pic-Nic Area

Picnic with a view. The picnic area is naturally shaded by tall trees and overlooks the duck pond. It’s not uncommon to find a few feathered friends or turtles hanging out while you enjoy your wine in this relaxed and casual setting.

Duck Pond

A beautiful backdrop to Wessex Lawn, Wedmore Place and the Picnic Area, the Duck Pond is home to natural wildlife and offers beautiful views for pictures.

Muscat Vineyard

One of our newest plantings here at Wessex Hundred. The vineyard is planted adjacent to the Duck Pond and produces the sweet, floral juice that anchors our award-winning dessert wine, Petite Fleur.

The Black Forest

The forest of pines and oaks, expanded by 62,000 loblollies all planted by Duffeler from 1985-91, extends approximately 75 acres. He hand planted many of the trees by hand when they were just seedlings.
