2006 Viognier
The 2006 Viognier is a Reserve quality wine. Virginia has become well known as one of the best areas for growing Viognier.
"The Viognier is a very refined, delicate wine showing a classic pineapple upside-down cake character, with fresh candied orange blossom, vanilla and tropical fruit tones. There is a hint of mineral and floral notes which enhance the perfumed character of the wine; creating a wonderful balance, and lingering finish. The Viognier was fermented and aged in stainless steel to enhance the brightness. Overall, the wine will continue to develop in the bottle over the next year."

In May 2007 London media and wine trade members tasted and experienced the unique versatility and variety of Virginia wines.
The Virginia Wine Experience in London, LLC, was formed by six Virginia wineries (Keswick Vineyards, Kluge Estate Vineyard & Winery, Pearmund Cellars, White Hall Vineyards, Williamsburg Winery, and Veritas Winery), and is generously sponsored by
the Farm Credit of Virginia.
"Since this is the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement, now is an excellent time to highlight the fact that Virginia was the first place in North America where English settlers deliberately set out to produce wine. We believe Londoners will appreciate the historical significance of our theme, and it’s a tremendous opportunity to showcase recent progress in the Virginia wine industry."
-Richard Leahy, executive director of the Virginia Wine Experience in London, LLC.
2007 Crush
With the arrival of the first seven tons of Chardonnay grapes from the Eastern Shore, the crush of 2007 started in giant fashion!
The newest addition to The Williamsburg Winery is the Europress P60 – imported from Germany - the largest wine press in Virginia. This marvel of technology is able to crush up to 15 tons of grapes at one time and is totally programmable which makes this year’s crush much more efficient and less time consuming.
But efficiency isn’t what results in great wines. Winemaker Matthew Meyer states, “From what I’ve seen so far, the quality of grapes this year is excellent”. The last few weeks of dry weather and fairly mild temperatures has made the final growing season one of the best Matthew has seen in years. He says, “The quality (of grapes) is very high, though quantity is down because of the late frost in April and the unusual weather in the western part of Virginia”.
Virginia’s harvest time usually starts the early part of September and runs through the end of October. With the perfect marriage of the latest technology, an outstanding harvest, and the Winemaker’s skills, the 2007 vintages should continue The Williamsburg Winery’s tradition of excellence and value in award-winning wines.
2005 Lord Botetourt Red
This wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Dornfelder. If you like The Williamsburg Winery Trianon, you will love this wine.
This is a very fruit forward wine with hints of raspberry and blackberry jam and a bit of fig in the background. Intertwined with the fruit is a nice chocolate character that enhances the overall structure. The wine finishes with soft tannins and overall has a well balanced clean finish. This wine should drink well now and for a few more years.
