The 2021 season is here!

The Williamsburg Winery Cycling Club has created guidelines to help keep everyone riding and safe.

Remember:

  • Stay at home if you have symptoms, even if they are mild (fever, cough, sneezing, feel unwell).

  • Riders should follow all public guidelines in terms of washing hands, touching exposed surfaces, and should not attend a group ride if experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Registration

  • Registration opens at 8.30am, please sign in for each ride. A waiver form must be signed by each rider, the waiver form is valid for the riding season of each year.

  • We will no longer offer a beverage station; however, we will have individual chilled bottled water available.

  • A staff member has been assigned to the restrooms to ensure they are sanitized frequently

  • Riders should remove gloves and sanitize their hands before entering and exiting the restrooms, sanitizer will be provided at the entrance of the restrooms. Please adhere to social distancing while waiting for the restroom.

Group Ride

  • At this time, we will not be taking a group photo prior to wheels up.

  • Signage will be placed in the gathering area that indicates either the A, B+ and B group ride, this allows us to manage departure of each group. Please adhere to social distancing prior to wheels up, we have a large gathering area for each group ride to allow for ample social distancing.

  • If you must sneeze or otherwise expectorate, go to the back or otherwise distance yourself from the rest of the group.

  • If a store stop is necessary for longer rides, you should wear a mask into the store, remove gloves and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before touching store items, and before rejoining the ride group.

E-Bikes

  • As a general statement, all E-Bike riders are expected to observe and follow the WWCC Club rules and policies governing ride safety and etiquette absent the provision of any other rule specific to E-Bikes.

  • Ride leaders are not responsible for determining whether a rider is using an E-Bike or what class of E-Bike a rider may be using. A ride leader’s role remains unchanged with the responsibility of ensuring that all riders be made aware of the ride rules and their responsibility to obey those rules as well as established traffic laws.

  • During group rides, participating E-bike riders may not accelerate the pace of the group when they advance to the front of a paceline. They may only maintain the established pace, or safely reduce it in the event a hazard exists that should be prudently observed to protect other riders in the group.

We truly appreciate the support for the club, a huge thank you also to the ride leaders that ensure our safety and keep the ride rolling at the posted pace!

Since 2016 when we created the Cycling Club its purpose is to have fun, exercise, raise awareness for the world-class cycling experience in Greater Williamsburg, and most importantly, to make it back safe and sound so that we can enjoy great Virginia Wine, Virginia Craft Beer, and savor delicious local food. We hope you will join us for many two-wheeled adventures for the remainder of this cycling season.
