HONORING MILITARY SPOUSES
Rewarding their Sacrifice
In a radio address in 1983, President Ronald Reagan called on the nation to pay tribute to all veterans. To protect what they have done for the country. To honor those men and women who “know better than anyone else the price of freedom.”
Here at The Williamsburg Winery, we are honored each and every time a current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces walks onto our farm, or makes a toast with our wines.
And we’re honored each time their spouses do, too.
You see, as much as our veterans have done for this country, so have their families.
Drawing on the grand advice from President Reagan to pay tribute to all veterans, to protect the work they’ve done and to honor their sacrifice, here at The Williamsburg Winery we want to recognize the incredible role military spouses play.
We want to celebrate the strength, resilience and courage they embody.
We want to, in honor of National Military Families Month, give back.
The Williamsburg Winery will be giving a deserving military spouse a weekend getaway at Wedmore Place at Wessex Hundred…and we need your help to find them.
Now through Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, The Williamsburg Winery will accept nominations for a military spouse (plus guest) to receive a two-night stay in the Venetian Suite, a chef’s tasting menu dinner at Café Provencal, lunch at Gabriel Archer Tavern, breakfast and a private tour of the winery with Founder Patrick Duffeler. Because we recognize that our military families are stationed worldwide, please note that this award will not include travel to Wessex Hundred.
Please tell us as much as you can about the spouse, the military branch their family serves in, why you are nominating them to receive a special gift, the sacrifices they’ve made, and any additional stories you feel helps paint the picture of what makes them deserving of this gift.
A review committee will select the winner, who will be notified on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019. The Williamsburg Winery defines a military spouse as someone who is married to a current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard.
