2019 Monticello Rkatsiteli
I believe we have managed to embrace the characteristics of this ancient variety with very soft and unassuming nuances of
peach, pineapple, pears, and some melons. With the fruit aspects are some lovely herbal and spice notes, almost peppery, that too are soft and gentle. The palate carries this forward with a clean, creamy finish with the fruit and herbs, yet still maintains the brightness the variety is known for.
2020 Chardonnay-Viognier, Limited Release
66% Chardonnay, 34% Viognier
A bright and rich wine offering a plethora of fruit characters. Initially the wine shows some pineapple, apple, pear, banana and apricot which is then engulfed with some creamy vanilla notes and bright lemon. Along with the fruits are some fresh notes of cut grass and honeysuckle giving the wine a lovely floral essence. The minerality of the wine is nicely paired with the fruits. The finish is long and bright with the lemon and tropical notes showing well.
These estate-grown wines are made from grapes sourced exclusively from our estate vineyards at Wessex Hundred in Williamsburg.
2020 Wessex Hundred Traminette
Following in one of its parents’ footsteps (Gewurztraminer), this wine is intensely aromatic. The initial fruits come through very tropical with lychee, pineapple, mango, kiwi, and tangerines. This carries over to some pleasant stone fruits and melons. Behind all the fruit are notes of wildflower, honeysuckle, orange blossom and a touch of honey. The finish is wonderfully soft and juicy with the many fruits coming together cohesively. An excellent addition to your next picnic.
2020 Wessex Hundred Albariño
This wine carries a wonderful complexity of mandarin orange, peach, apricot, pear, pineapple, and some zesty citrus fruits. Next to the fruit is a bit of minerality and fresh cut flowers providing a nice, perfumed quality. The mouthfeel is clean and bright with the fruits and citrus showing well. The finish has a pleasant creamy vanilla aspect that carries the weight of the citrus. Like the 2017, this wine has the sassy complexity we love in our Albariño.
2020 Wessex Hundred Dry Rosé
Cabernet Franc and Vidal Blanc
A very harmonious wine offering gentle fruit notes, starting with strawberry and banana, and then followed by some cherry, rhubarb, raspberry and blueberry. The gentle fruits are perfectly matched with the soft bouquet of fresh spring flowers with a touch of clove, nutmeg and honey. There is a soft citrus peel tone which enhances the other aspects and adds to the structure of the wine very well. The finish is long and clean with fresh fruits, flowers and soft spices.
2019 Wessex Hundred Chardonnay
A full-bodied wine offering some pleasant aromas of peach, lemon, grapefruit and pineapple along with a floral note that transitions into a lovely fresh rose and hydrangea essence. Among the fresh fruits and flowers is a layer of creamy vanilla and caramel that then leads into a saltwater taffy character. The oak is sublimely integrated with the fruit and acidity making for a deliciously balanced wine with an elegant body and finish.
2018 Wessex Hundred Chardonnay
This is the first Chardonnay produced from our new Wessex Hundred planting. It features upfront aromas of baked apple, peach cobbler, and orange blossom. This is balanced by some tropical fruit notes of mango and papaya. Following the fruit are hints of vanilla, cream, and pie spices. The finish is lingering and rich.
2019 Wessex Hundred Viognier
This Viognier has the classic elements of a pineapple upside cake in conjunction with a lemon cream pie. In addition to these sweet treats there is some apricot, plum, mandarin orange, and grilled pineapple. On the palate these fruits come forward along with a pleasant tea character and some flowers. The finish is well balanced, lingering with a cake-like creaminess and a bright acidity just poking through.
2018 Wessex Hundred Viognier
This wine sports some very tropical notes of pineapple, mango, and orange along with some fresh lemon zest. With the tropical notes there is some dried apricot, peach and rhubarb. There is also a nice floral aspect that almost verges on perfume. Just behind these fresh fruit notes is a creamy caramel/honey and vanilla aspect that creates a pleasant dimension to the wine. The finish is long and clean with the tropical notes coming through and then it flows into that creamy vanilla. Grandmothers pineapple upside down cake in a bottle.

2019 Acte 12 Chardonnay
This wine is packed with different layers and nuances. There is a layer of apples and creamy vanilla with a touch of lemon curd. After that comes a slightly herbal essence with a hint of spice and nuttiness. All these nuances are beautifully balanced on the palate with a bright and yet creamy finish that lingers for a while. The oak and stainless steel are in complete harmony with the wine and create a beautifully balanced Chardonnay.
2018 Acte 12 Chardonnay
This wine is a perfect reflection of how, even in vintages that are considered challenging, a wine can rise above the negativity to showcase an exceptionally well-balanced wine with all the necessary attributes. There are subtle hints of fresh tropical fruits such as pineapple, papaya and kiwi followed by a fresh strawberry. The body of the wine is rich and creamy like a triple layer lemon vanilla cake. There is a touch of minerality and fresh herbal notes along with a pinch of nuttiness. Overall, one of the most balanced Acte 12 Chardonnays to date with many nuanced layers making it a truly cohesive wine.
2020 Virginia Stainless Steel Fermented Chadonnay
This wine is packed with a cornucopia of fresh bright fruits including apricot, peach, pear, and green apple with some tropical notes of kiwi, banana and pineapple. All these fruits are wonderfully enveloped in a layer of bright lemony citrus that is a nice complement to a creamy vanilla cake layer. The mouthfeel and finish of the wine are both long and fruit forward with a clean crispness that enhances the overall structure and balance. This wine will be fun to pair with many different foods!
2019 Virginia Stainless Steel Fermented Chardonnay
This Chardonnay is all about balance and finesse. The apple, pear, strawberry and stone fruits are well matched with the soft honeysuckle and fresh hay/straw. The citrus notes are very soft and nestle alongside the chalky minerality of the wine very elegantly. There is also a gentle nuttiness to the wine that rounds out the overall complexity. The finish is long, bright and creamy with some juicy nectarine and tropical nuances. This is my favorite Virginia Stainless Steel Chardonnay to date. – Matthew Meyer, Winemaker.
2019 Virginia Petit Manseng
100% Petit Manseng
A full-bodied wine with multiple fruit families represented, starting with the tropical fruits of starfruit, kiwi, and papaya. Then the stone fruits of apricots and nectarines followed by the berry family with a hint of strawberry. Mixed in with these fresh fruits is a layer of vanilla and currants along with some honey. After all that comes a layer of spice with clove and cinnamon and a touch of honeysuckle and wildflowers. The finish is fruit forward with a smooth creaminess and a minerality layer that accentuates all the other elements.
2018 Virginia Petit Manseng
100% Petit Manseng
A wonderfully tropical wine with nuances of fresh crushed pineapple, mandarin orange, banana and papaya. With these tropical layers is an aromatic honeysuckle and wildflower layer. The wine is bright and has a clean minerality that pairs well with the lemon and creamy pineapple feel. The wine has a long lingering tropical finish that will pair amazingly with Chesapeake Bay Oysters!
2017 Virginia Petit Manseng
100% Petit Manseng
A wine offering luscious orange, mandarin and creamy banana notes. Along with the fruit, there are wonderful notes of gardenia, fresh wildflower, and grass with a slight touch of perfume. The brightness of the wine is well matched with the minerality and fruit. This is a very elegant well balanced wine with a finish of fresh fruit and flowers. This reminds me of the orange cream trifle Stacey makes.
2020 Virginia Sauvignon Blanc
100% Sauvignon Blanc
Initially the aromatics show some pleasant tropical notes of pineapple, papaya and mango which then go into green apple, pear, peach, and apricot. All these fresh fruits are well balanced with a bright grapefruit and lemon essence. Beside the fruit aspects is a hint of grass/hay with some limestone nuances. This is all enveloped with a bright citrus mouthfeel with a touch of creamy vanilla and a long finish. Overall a nicely balanced Sauvignon Blanc with a more old world style.
2019 Virginia Sauvignon Blanc
100% Sauvignon Blanc
I think we have exemplified the old-world traditions of Sauvignon Blanc and have created a wine with subtle aromatics of grapefruit, citrus, and green apple as well as a touch of strawberry and tart cherry. Along with these subtle elements is a clean grassy/hay note that pairs nicely with the fruits. Hiding just behind these is a prosciutto wrapped fig, which is why I think this wine will pair wonderfully with a cheese and charcuterie board. 2019 A Midsummer Night's White
70% Traminette, 17% Petit Manseng, 13% Vidal Blanc
A very floral wine with layers of tropical pineapple, banana and tangerine with some pleasant stone fruits and cantaloupe as a nice balance. In addition to the floral notes, there is a perfumed essence from the honeysuckle and clove nuances. The mouthfeel is very rich and luscious with the fruits being accentuated with a lemon curd layer. Overall a well-balanced wine with a subtle minerality that will pair well with many different foods of summer.
2019 Virginia Semi-Dry Rosé
83% Vidal Blanc, 9% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot
Initially the wine reflects wonderfully ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry notes with an almost jammy quality. Then there is a side of the wine with more peach, plum and nectarine. All these different fruits are wrapped up in a slight limestone, earthy character with some ripe olives and eucalyptus. There are some very soft tannins that just poke their heads up a little bit to remind you that it does have some cabernet franc and merlot in it. The finish has a creamy fruit texture with just a touch of honey. A very balanced wine with that will do very well in the summer.
2020 Virginia Semi-Dry Rosé
69% Traminette, 31% Cabernet Franc
The initial aspect of the wine is fl oral along with ripe strawberry, banana, peach and apricot. Some fresh flowers round out the floral aspect. This is followed by a tropical ambrosia. A creamy vanilla and bright lemon rind complement the fruit nicely. The finish is long and clean with great balance. The sweetness of the wine is balanced by a bright character on the finish.
These wines pay respect to the rich wine history of Wessex Hundred and are made in a fun, easy-drinking style.
2020 Governor's White
The 2020 Governors White is a semi dry Riesling with a lot of bright fruit and multiple layers. On the nose there are the tropical fruits such as pineapple, passion fruit, star fruit followed by blueberry, strawberry, plum and a touch of lemon that adds a pleasant brightness to the wine. Amid the fruit layers is a very soft honey and vanilla that plays nicely with the classic Riesling nuances. The residual sugar and alcohol are well balanced within the wine’s overall structure making for a very approachable wine with smooth sweetness and fruit. This wine is very easy and fun to drink and will pair with many light dishes or spicy foods; or simply with a burger by the pool.
